I have been having so much fun with my own sempervivums (see my little mint box and picture frame) that I am thrilled to share this news: Arrowhead Alpines is offering to send one lucky person (in the U.S. who is at least 18 years old) six of their very own named sempervivum varieties. Keep reading for how to enter…
- Create a new Pinterest board and name it “I love sempervivums” (this is how I will find all the entries)
- Add this link to your board: http://www.arrowheadshopping.com/collections-124/sempervivum-collection-130/
- Add at least three other links that are about sempervivums (from whatever site you chose) to your board. Look for projects using sempervivums, informational articles about growing sempervivums, profiles of particularly beautiful semps. Whatever you like so long as it obviously relates to sempervivums.
If you are not already on Pinterest and would like to participate, leave a comment on this post and I will send you an invite.
I will pick my favorite board at 12pm Pacific time on April 13 to win a 6 plant collection of named sempervivums from Arrowhead Alpines. My primary deciding factor will be the number and quality of pins included in the board. Any boards with pins that are obviously not linked to the original source (i.e. linking to Google Images instead of linking to the actual website) will be disqualified. Also, you should know that it annoys me when people post things to Pinterest with a “.” for the entire description of the pin. I wouldn’t do that if you want to win.
Ready, set, GO!

I love the idea of a pinterest contest! Way to work that social media. Do you need a link to the pinterest boards, or are you going to find them through the pin source page? anyway, here’s mine.

I am having so much fun learning about Sempervivums. Truth be told I had no clue they even existed until I stumbled upon your blog. They are so beautiful I am looking forward to starting my own Sempervivums collection. The kids are all picking what colors they want in their rooms and my girls have been looking for the perfect frame to hang on their wall. Thank You for inspiring us!!

How do I add the link? I already made a Board but can’t figure this out. Also how do you pin something if it does not have a pin on it?
Jeannette–Copy the url and then add it with the “Add+” button on pinterest.com. Or, install the Pinterest bookmarklet to your browser and then go to the link and click the bookmarklet.
I’m so excited to do the mint tin sempervitum garden as I’ve already been trying to start a mini-mini (i guess micro is the right word) garden, so thanks! I only just this year learned what hens and chicks were because of your site. They grow around here in Nevada pretty well but I could never find anyone to tell me what they were. So THANKS for that too!
— Oh please send a Pinterest invite to me, I’d love to participate in this contest!
Cool giveaway! I started my board, I was ahead of the game a bit, I already had a bunch of semps pinned!

Can I participate if I’m in Canada?
Thanks
Anna–I think sending live plants to Canada is difficult/impossible due to customs requirements.
Love this idea! My board is already created. Thanks so much!

I just fell in love with succulents this year! Still trying to figure out how to grow them in Vancouver (it’s pouring rain outside and it’s been like that for months!….)
Please “invite” me to the Pininterest, I’d be thrilled!
Lilia
Done!
I just realized how difficult this is going to be for you to judge when I realized that some people have re-pinned pins from my “i-love-sempervivums” board to their own “i-love-sempervivums” board. egads. good luck with that.
LOL. I hadn’t considered that happening…
Pinterest invite please!!!
Just sent one…
I love this!

Hey,
Love the blog, you def have a new follower.
I was wondering if you knew what kind of plants are good for heavily shaded gardens? we have a tiny tiny city garden, but it is surrounded by big oak trees which i suspect are sucking the life out of everything, couple that with it not getting an ounce of sun and me being a complete novice, i’ve no idea what to plant in there, everything from last year died.
thanks for your help!!

Are you growing in the ground or containers? Because growing in the ground underneath oak trees is very challenging. Here is some info on planting under oaks:
Working on this board today reminded me of the several dozen varieties I once had in my showplace garden in PA, which I sold about 7 years ago
I’ve been planting my veggie, herb and tiny sedum garden in containers ever since… awaiting next spring when I am able to buy property again… then all of the perennials will get planted in the ground. I may not be able to replace the vast variety I had before but I at least want to try, and I’m at least keeping my fingernails dirty ~ LOL.

Thanks Fern for making this available!
Oh, for what it’s worth, anything I added today I Googled to locate specific things I was looking for so that I might not be contributing to the challenge Jess S. pointed out. That of course is no guarantee that I don’t have some duplicates of others Pinner’s. I’ve noticed that when I click on a pin that it does display when the item was pinned, I don’t know if that would be helpful or not.
Have fun with your sempervivums, they look sweet <3
I would love a chance to win!!!! Please send me an invite!!
Just sent it to you!
Fun! I’ve really been loving the semperviviums you’ve posted. Super excited about this contest.
Here’s a link to mine – just in case.

Love how I misspelled it…..
I’m not on Pinterest, please send me an invite! Love your book!
Just sent you an invite!
Would love to win, but do not have time to follow all those directions!! Links, follow, etc. But I do love Pinterest and I am so happy to have found your blog!
The directions aren’t that hard, and I think it’s fair to reserve cool prizes for people who are willing to do a tiny amount of work to win. Maybe you’ll have more time next contest!
would love to win these! sadly I only have 2 in my whole yard!
here’s my board:

It was fun! I would like to see the winning board to.
Was the winner ever announced?
LOL. I spoke with the judges (all one of us) and we’ll allow your pin board even though it is misspelled.
