Moving to the condo gave me a lot of opportunity to consider my container gardening style. I had lived for so long (at least for me) at my apartment, that my garden had become more of a hodge podge than anything else. When I moved I really wanted to make my new balcony into an area that looked as though I had put some thought into it. I think I’d describe the style I came up with as contemporary casual.
How would you describe your style?

I’m afraid to vote… I’ve never defined my style! I hold plants next to eachother, and if I go: “oh YEAH” I plant them together. Maybe this makes me eclectic?
Joseph, you actually hold the plants next to each other? That’s more planning than I’ve ever done with the container plants on my screen porch.
I just buy whatever captivates me at the nursery and try to find someplace to put it when I get it home.
I would describe my style as tropical eclectic.
Ha! I agree with Joseph. A little of this, a little of that, and it goes where it goes.
How come “ghetto” isn’t an option for those of us with a hodgepodge of pots, broken or cracked terracotta and repurposed kitchen containers?
DISCRIMINATION!!!
I call my style “spicy” but I chose eclectic in the poll.
LOL MrBT, I was trying to be as broad and inclusive as possible, so I imagined the people who used recycled containers would choose eclectic. But if I ever do a similar poll, I’ll be sure to consider including a “ghetto” option.
I think I’d have to go with ghetto too. But maybe that falls under rustic. What’s the difference between rustic and country/cottage anyways?
No option for me – I’m a “sustainable” style. For instance, here’s an example of a water conserving container planting idea – http://bit.ly/a3FuEk.

I think my style is country cottage with a touch of eclectic!
My style? I’d like it to be the fluffly, messy, cottage style on the right, but in the severely geometric container on the left. But it’s usually the containers I get for cheap on Craigslist, and I seldom can keep happy all those plants at the same time!
Where did you purchase your containers? They are naturally beautiful!!
Slacker – my style is definitely slacker. Lazy and easy are always my first priorities. I also like using unusual, broken, or flea market finds for my containers (aka cheap).
