I guess, it also could prevent spills, easier than a small-bottomed glass. Personally, I wouldn't buy it, but apparently some business person felt they could make a profit by manufacturing these things, so... more power to 'em, I guess! As a side note, my hubby is from France, and lots of people there swear by their special cheese containers. Supposedly these specially-designed cheese holders (which just look like normal plastic storage containers to me) make the cheese last longer. Must be one of those things.
