Tiny Balcony Bouquet Challenge

Yesterday Debra Baldwin spotted this great post in That Mini Gardener’s archives about making a bijou bouquet and I couldn’t wait to pop outside and put together a posy of my own. I used black New Zealand Flax leaves, variegated Plectranthus, and the white button flowers from a Chrysanthemum.

I know Prue of Totally Inept Balcony Gardener loves making little arrangements of the flowers from the plants she grows on her balcony, and now I understand why. Easy, instant gratification. If you have anything worth sticking in a bud vase growing right now, make your own bouquet and post a photo in the LOTB Flickr Group.

Being technology challenged in the photography department (or, in other words, I don’t have a digital camera), I’m unable to post a picture, but I did put together a little bouquet of pale yellow English primroses, sky blue grape hyacinths with a few of their leaves, and leaves from a variegated spider plant which I looped, tucking both ends of each leaf into the “vase” (actually a frosted narrow 2″ high glass meant for a vodka shot). The cat immediately showed his approval of my efforts by eating the spider plant leaves.

LOL Shari! My cats would do the same thing if I left my arrangement somewhere they could get at it. I bet yours not only looks beautiful, but smells wonderful!

I love coincidences! Friday I had a bday party to go to as a +1 for someone I didn’t know well and figured flowers ought to do it as a gift. So I picked the best flowers I had at the time (ranunculus and an orange mystery flower unlabeled at the store) mixed in some fresh purple feather grass and to fill it in some stalks from my parsnips. Tied them together and wrapped them with a plastic valentine’s candy bag that could hold some water. It turned out suprisingly nice :) Glad I took a pic!
