Oops, I Missed Garden Bloggers Bloom Day

in General

Garden Bloggers Bloom Day occurs on the 15th of each month. Basically, close to 100 bloggers post photos of what is blooming in their garden and then link to it over at the May Dreams Gardens blog. Considering that this post is three days late, I don’t really think it counts. Oh well. Hopefully I’ll do better next month.

In the meantime, here is some of what is blooming in my containers:

Dahlia Happy Single Juliet

These Dahlia (Happy Single Juliet) are really beautiful. As you can see, they have honey-colored flowers set against virtually black foliage. When I picked them out at the garden center I was sure they wouldn’t look good with the other plants I picked out, but they ended up adding a nice “pop” to the containers.

I have two Cannas, this one and a yellow one. Don’t tell the yellow one, but this one is my favorite. She has been blooming constantly since I planted her.

I like this Lantana (Luscious Tropical Fruit) as much for its mottled foliage as I do for its multi-color flowers. Plus it’s irresistable to bees and butterflies.
