Neat Way to Use Windowboxes

by Fern on June 17, 2009

in Inspiration

I occasionally check Smith and Hawken’s website for inspiration and am almost always rewarded with a fresh idea, like this one:

triple-windowbox

Not only are the windowboxes themselves unusual and attractive, but they are planted with an interesting display of succulents AND the whole thing has been displayed in an innovative way. We balcony and patio gardeners are short on space, so using the walls and our vertical space makes a lot of sense.

Oohh what fantastic inspiration. I am so doing this. I have a bunch of pups and cuttings waiting to be utilized (or should I say uprooted and cut).

muchas gracias

Oh, those are really pretty! One thing that frustrates me about my house is that my siding makes it impossible for me to install anything much on the side of my house, so I’m restricted to things I can put on the ground. I bet you could do something similarly cool with tiered shelves, though, although it wouldn’t be as clean-looking.

GardenerGirl–Last year Ikea had a really cute tiered planter that would look super cute planted up like these window boxes.
