A lot of us live in apartments or condos where it really isn’t possible to have a BBQ or chiminea due to safety concerns or community rules. But little chimineas can add a lot of charm and visual interest on a balcony or patio. If you have access to an outdoor electrical outlet, check out this photo that Jenny Peterson sent me of her chiminea:

Jenny received this chiminea as a gift, but she isn’t allowed to light a fire on her balcony because it has an overhang and a chiminea with a fire in it would pose a safety risk. Instead she filled the hearth with string lights (she used ones with grapevine balls decorating each light). As you can see, it provides a lot of nice ambience, and I bet it provides a beautiful glow at night.

If you’ve come up with an innovative way to solve the sort of problems apartment and condo dwellers face, shoot me an email. I love seeing what you all are up to.

This is terribly clever…I love it! If it used the golden colored LED lights it would be very environmentally friendly as well.

That is a great Idea, I have been using candles in mine on a large ceramic plate to catch drips in mine, maybe I will try one of those fake fireplace logs thingy’s that you plug in. Thanks for the good idea.
