This is a variety called 'Best Bet.' It's a Tall Bearded Iris. The reason it blooms that way is because Tall Bearded Irises naturally have ruffled petals. But the mechanic assured me that I didn't do anything to cause either breakdown, the problems were normal wear and tear on older cars. Todd--It's a variety of Iris called 'Best Bet.'
