I’ve never ordered from Annie’s Annuals, but I have heard really good things about their plants and seeds. AND, there is a whole section on their site with black plants. Also, if you didn’t catch it the first time around, check out this list of black plants. And stay tuned for a container design featuring black plants. I should have it up this Sunday.

I *love* black plants! It’s the latent Goth in me…
Currently I have black poppies and some Hollyhock Nigra on my balcony but I’m working up to a tacca chantrierei – the Cat Plant, which is just utterly *glorious*.
Hi Fern,
Have you seen the book Black Magic, Purple Passion by Karen Platt? It is a wonderful examination of black plants.
Ooooo fabulous! I love dark maroon plants. I think the reason I never gardened before is because everyone I know planted happy boring flowery plants.
Erick–No, I haven’t heard of that book. Thanks for the suggestion!
Kimberly–LOL. I think what is so cool about gardening, is that there is room for everyone. Little old grannies who love azaleas and men obsessed with their lawns. Gardening know-it-alls who have excel spreadsheets to track the growth of their tomatoes and people who wouldn’t be caught dead growing anything that wasn’t poisonous, dangerous or black. And everyone in between.
