Jessie–Washing and soaking are two different things. I’ve noticed that if I let mushrooms soak in the above mentioned veggie wash that they taste like vinegar.

On the Alton Brown show Good Eats, he did a Myth Smashers episode where he pretty clearly demonstrated that washing mushrooms just before use did not cause them to absorb more than a negligible amount of water. So wash away!
