Earlier today I met up with Scott Bunnell and a bunch of other Long Beach locals (including Adriana of Anarchy in the Garden) for a little guerrilla gardening…
Guerrilla gardening was lots of fun and the City of Long Beach now has a beautiful succulent garden on Orange, just south of PCH. I used to be a little skeptical about guerrilla gardening, and there are still types of guerrilla gardening I can’t support, but I think today’s guerrilla gardening was completely win-win-win. Long Beach got some free plants and landscaping labor, the people who live and work in that area now have a pretty garden to enjoy, and all of us guerrilla gardeners had a blast!
Oh, by the way, I used the Soil Scoop for some of the hand digging and it worked out great. The cement that was pretending to be soil at the site didn’t even phase it. Several people commented on how great a tool it is.
UPDATE: Check out all of the photos Scott uploaded to the So Cal Guerrilla Gardening blog.

Way to go, Fern! That garden looks awesome! Good ideas & tips for the rest of us considering taking the GGing plunge!
Hi Fern! I went out to lunch after the dig and then drove over to check out the garden on Loynes. So I got home about 3:30. I unloaded the truck and uploaded some photos and made a post to my blog. But you blogged AND made a very nice video. You rock! Glad to hear you say you have a different feel for GGing. Thanks again for helping out today. Let’s do it again real soon!
Thanks Jenny!
Scott–This time I used iMovie and it was so easy to use, the movie went together in a snap. Especially since I didn’t have to import any video, that was the main problem I had with the first vlog post.
