These are photos I’ve snapped of ladybugs in my own container gardens, and those of clients or friends. I would say that ladybugs really love container gardening (especially when the garden includes dill!) as much as people do! Do you ever see ladybugs in your garden?

What gorgeous photos. The third one is especially stunning!
I have definitely seen more ladybugs in our yard than ever before – in large part because of the beneficial bug attraction tips I learned from you Fern! Thanks
The 3rd photo is one of my all time favorites.
I would love to see more of those friendly critters in my garden. Can you refer me to any past blogs with tips on attracting more beneficial bugs?
Hi Denise! Both of the links in this post go to previous articles I’ve written on attracting ladybugs.
Mom, isn’t it crazy how they all just congregated together?
Glad to be of service, Mary!
Thanks Cubits!
Love those ladybugs! I checked out your past article and gave me some great ideas!
DUH! How did I not see that? I think I was distracted by the pretty pictures. Thank you!
I love how the ladybugs are all congregated together.
I remember coming home from the greenhouse one day and one entire side of my white house was SWARMING with ladybugs so that it looked black. It felt like “The Attack of the Killer Ladybugs”. Very creepy. They got into the house when I opened the door and I was vacuuming up dead ladybugs for weeks after that!
Hiya, I am so happy to have found your blog! I’m also trying to grow an edible garden on my balcony and love reading this tip about growing dill to attract ladybugs. I was wondering something though: Are ladybugs typically attracted to the flowers of the dill plant (meaning I’d have to wait until then to possibly have them show up) or might they show up before then? Thanks for all your great tips!
I absolutely love this site! However, ever since a ladybug bit me, I don’t like them very much. Still beautiful pictures though!
Are you sure it was a ladybug that bit you? I’ve never heard of that!
@ Niki, ladybugs can’t bite. When frightened they emit a stinky acidic fluid which stings quite a bit and feels like a bite. Their tiny little mouths aren’t big enough to bite a big ol’ human, they do good to chow down the aphids
The asian variety of ladybird beetles are more likely to do this than domestic ones in my experience.
