I’ve scheduled this post to be published at 2:59pm Pacific time, one minute before America’s national moment of silence in remembrance of our countrymen who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.
‘Flags-In’ at Arlington National Cemetery for Memorial Day 2008 by Army.Mil
My brother is currently in the Corps of Cadets at his university, and plans on being a submariner in the Navy when he graduates. I’m proud of my brother’s patriotism and willingness to serve our country. I’m also worried about his well-being, and he won’t even receive his commission for another three years! It’s given me a teeny tiny glimpse into the sacrifice America’s military families make every day. I stand in awe of you guys, and the loved ones you are supporting.

The red poppy is the symbol of remembering the troops, in Canada anyway.

(am actually not sure if we can put html in the comments. If not, I’m sorry!)
Kudos to you and your brother, Fern. My bro was in Iraq for two years and I am so, so happy to have him home. Tough stuff.
