How Adorable! Gardening Inspired Cupcakes

by Fern on December 5, 2008

This weekend, I’m going to help my mom make some cupcakes from her new cupcake cookbook, Hello, Cupcake! by Alan Richardson and Karen Tack. The ideas in the book are absolutely the most adorable things you have ever seen. While I am given to exaggeration, that was not an exaggeration. Most. Adorable. Ever.

The great thing about the recipes in the book is that they are “doable” by regular folks like me and you. You do not need to have studied under some famous, fancy pants pastry chef to make these cupcakes. The authors use everyday ingredients and easy to replicate techniques in ingenious ways. And lucky for me and you, they put them in a cookbook with tons of full color photos of every, single recipe.

Hello, Cupcake! costs less than $10. What more can I say? The book is cheap. It will make you look like a baking superstar. And you’ll be able to eat cupcakes when you’re done. Nuff said? Good. I’ll leave you with a few photos then…

Those are insanely cute.

I am a fan of Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World, but if I were to get another cupcake book, this would be it. Adorable! I need to get a cake decorating kit someday, for sure.

OH MY GOSH. You’ve hit on one of my three passions, here, Fern. Plants, books, and cupcakes. Holy crikey I need this book. It’s going on my birthday and wishlist – hopefully I’ll get lucky this month! Us soon-to-be 30-year-olds need adorable sustenance!!

I saw this at borders the other day, too cute!

Tooo cute for words. I could really get into making those little gardening cupcakes. I tried making rose topped ones for a friends birthday. Well, after alot of work, I ended up just smearing them with icing. I love the pea pod ones.

Laurel — I love Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World too! You can never have too many cupcake cookbooks! ;-)

Gen — I knew there was a reason I liked you! Does it get any better than plants, books and cupcakes? :-D

Shayna — My photos don’t even do it justice, do they?

Jen — I looked at the directions for that cupcake, they are super easy. The “dirt” it made with crushed cookies and the pea pods are made with green M&Ms, green jolly ranchers and green licorice laces. No frosting in sight!

Simply too cute! I need several copies right away, one for me and each of my three sisters!

Wow, I love the ones with the little vegetables on top. So cute!

Cindy — I bet they would love it!

Amy — Those were my second favorite. The monarch butterfly one is just stunning.

Ohmigosh! Sooo cute! I’m so glad I came across this. I’m makina a website about cupcakes, and I totally almost forgot about Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World- which is a bad thing because my website is called cupcakes-shall-rule-the-world! I know I’ll just have to get Hello, Cupcake! and Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World!
