I’m not Christian, so I wouldn’t exactly be the best source for innovative ideas for Christmas decorating, but I really liked Rachel’s idea, and it’s perfect for my fellow small apartment dwellers.

Pretty! I did something similar when I lived in an apartment – I used a green garland to make a tree shape on the wall! It was goofy, but fun. I hung mini ornaments on it, and strung lights around the ceiling molding.
I’m a happy atheist, but I love Christmas! I think of it as a time to celebrate family, show love and generosity by making and giving gifts, and just generally take a step back from the pressures of real life and be silly and relax with the people I love. Yay for Christmas!
Gen — I don’t think your idea is cheesy at all, I like it!
I had to LOL at your term “happy atheist.” So often atheists seem angry, but that’s probably because most happy atheists are flying under the radar, so to speak. Angry people always seem to get more press than happy people. Anyway, as a happy Jew, I too enjoy all the pretty decorating and the good mood that everyone seems to be in this time of year.
