Here’s What’s Going on in My Neck of the Woods, What Have You Been Up To?

by Fern on February 27, 2009

in General

My garden has been battered by the crazy rain (for Southern California) we’ve been getting over the last couple of months. So I’ve mostly been running damage control. However, there are a few bright spots. My peach tree is in bloom and my apple tree isn’t far behind. I’m also the proud owner of some new gardening boots that are totally ridiculous, but if you can’t look ridiculous when you’re gardening, then when can you?!

Babcock Peach

My new Slogger’s gardening boots. No jokes about my white legs!

What are you doing that’s gardening related? Planning? Seed Sowing? Dreaming?

Happy Friday!

Your trees are doing more than mine! Love the boots, I’ve got polka dot Chookas. So fun. Thanks for the fave, too.

We’ve been pretty battered up here on the North Coast as well. Some of my plants have been so battered that I’m amazed at their durability!! My terrace in SF, however, is protected and has some very nice blooms right now. As I said in my previous comment, I need more greenery and you’ve given me some greta ideas. Thx

Love the boots! Do you think I’d look odd in them?
We’ll be starting seeds soon.

Melanthia — Polka dot garden boots sounds very cute!

Iona — I have mixed success with plant hardiness when it comes to huge rain downpours. It seems like the lacier the leaves the better they fare…

TC — LMBO! Uh, yeah!!!

Hi Fern – those boots are classic. And nothing wrong with white legs! Sure beats skin cancer any day. The Balcony Garden in Melbourne is about to lose most of its tomato crop to the early end of season cull.

I’m dreaming of starting some climbing roses. Maybe also some flowers that attract humming birds. We have 10 acres so I have lots of room to do something, right?

No rain here, sadly! I just did a post about how I am turning one of my succulent tires into two tires for okra and collard gardens! Should be fun!

Prue — I couldn’t tan if I tried! ;-)

Sonia — You definitely have enough space! :-P Climbing roses are one of my favorite plants. Good luck!

Julie — Soul food tires, I love it!
