Hi Fern, That does sound like a good idea! I don’t have a lot of space in my yard for a veggie garden, but with your tips, I may try to grow a variety on my deck this year:) I will need to get more containers but I do have space enough for more than just tomato plants, which is all I had last year. I will keep checking back for ideas and advice as the season progresses! Jan

Soil blocking makes sowing lettuce easy peazy. But I soil block all my seeds because I can’t depend on the wacky world of direct sowing.

Jan — I’d love to hear about your veggie garden when things get under way.

Adriana — Soil blocking or starting inside in starter pots is certainly one way of doing things. I use a hybrid of both direct sowing and starting things off inside.

I saw this tip in Fine Gardening and thought it was pretty nifty, too! I’m definitely going to try it. Those fiddly seeds end up everywhere otherwise!
