Great Gardening Advice on Pinterest

Have you heard of a new site called Pinterest? It is basically a virtual cork board that allows you to organize and share all the interesting things you find on the internets. Just like other social websites, you “follow” the people who have similar interests, or you can just follow particular boards. It is a fun (and beautiful) way to discover new things.

This is me on Pinterest. Right now Pinterest is only open to new members after you get on the waiting list. But I will be happy to send an invite to the first few people who respond in the comments section with their email address. If you’re already pinning away, leave me a link to your profile, I’d love to follow you there.

I do pin all sorts of things, not just gardening articles. If you’d rather not see that crafting ideas I’m infatuated with, or home decorating pins, or all my ampersands and salt and pepper sets, you can just follow these boards, where I stick to garden related links:

One board in particular that I want to draw your attention to is a group board about edible gardening with pins contributed by various garden bloggers:

I have not gotten into Pinterest yet, but I am seeing a lot of buzz on it. Would you consider me??

It’s just a mild addiction. I have it under control. It’s not like I am an addict or anything?

I write for the blog MillerLandscapeInc.wordpress.com and I’ve been really interested in getting on Pinterest. I’m just now learning about it though. I’m one of the first commenters, any chance I can get an invite and maybe your perspective on how you use Pinterest?

Also, the link to your new book in Pinterest isn’t working.

Haha, Bruce, the first step is admitting it! Great post, Fern. I love that veggie garden resource and your boards.

I read one too many article on copyright infringement, re-read Pinterest’s disclaimer and deleted all my boards.

It’s still winter, but today a warm breeze was elbowing its way into the frozen landscape, bringing with it dreams of spring, and planting every nook and cranny with something beautiful, or edible, or just plain weird! Thanks, Fern, for the inspiration on all those counts.

Great article, Fern. No need to follow me — a bunch of my pins are yours!

Hi, Nell. There has been talk of some type of program whereby a website can prohibit pins if they don’t want their pictures & links pinned. I don’t think it’s out there yet, but it’s coming. However, as a retailer (office products, no less), Pinterest is changing online retailing in a big way. “I see it, I want it, where can I get it?” Oh lookie, I can get it right there.

I admire your integrity!

Hi Fern, I would love it if you would consider sending me an invite to Pinterest! Congrats on the publication of your new book…it looks great. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my subscription to ‘Life on the Balcony’ and shared many articles with my son who lives the apartment life. Although we have a great yard, I’ve also incorporated many ideas you’ve introduced us all to! Thanks for sharing :)

Thanks for the Pinterest boards links!!! I’m following now some of your boards. I already have an account there, not doing much with it, but I created a board just for inspirations for a garden, and I repinned many of these ideas. I plan to make a small garden on my future balcony. I’ve been checking out your blog and I plan to buy your book. I have a good one right now ( http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/7573781-pots-et-jardini-res ) but I’m really looking forward to get yours too.

My board is here: http://pinterest.com/strangerealms/inspirations-for-my-garden/
