Adriana -- You should check out myfolia.com, I'm writing a post about the website right now, but it's a really cool way to keep track of your plants.

My resolution is to take better notes. I'm not good at keeping track of sowing/tranplanting dates.

Nancy -- Good one!

Jan -- Yeah, I was really good about that during the beginning of the planting season, but got lazy later in the year.

Gen -- That's a good idea, to work on one area at a time.

Prue -- When I was growing up, California was having a serious drought and water conservation was a big deal. At the time, I used these crystals you mixed into the soil that plump up when you water your plants. Then when the soil gets dry, they slowly release the water back into the soil. They can cut down on your watering a lot!

Hi Fern

I think my resolutions and yours are about the same, though i need to resolve to look into more watersaving techniques, and somehow work out a solution to the stand off with the spidermites! Luck in 2009.

I'm going to pick one area at a time and make it perfect before moving on. I have a grand plan of what my garden will be like (a loose grand plan!), and I just have trouble keeping up with it because of all the work I do for others as my job!

So one area at a time, and keep it maintained and gorgeous before I can plant a new area. I think I can handle that.

I also want to get better with handling my harvest, Fern!

Hmm, I am going to SAVE my TAGS from the plants I buy. I have thrown so many of them out and then I can't remember what they are--or where they are planted before they start to come up in the spring. It makes it hard to put something new in if I don't know where they are located! Thanks for the reminder to make at least one gardening resolution!! Merry Christmas and have a wonderul New Year! Jan

Plant more veggies and make better use of my balcony space...thinking up and down, not necessarily out. :-)

Tina -- Thanks for the vote of confidence! I have my fingers crossed that your plants will be okay. I could never get away with that in So Cal unless I planted only succulents and cacti (assuming I had an in-ground garden). There are some years where we only get a few inches of rain!

Cindy -- It shouldn't be that surprising, but fertilizer is a wonder drug. This was the first year that I really used fertilizer and I was impressed too.

Hi Fern,
Every year for me it is a promise to fertilize. I had a wedding last August in my backyard, so I fed my plants like mad. What a difference! My plants actually looked pretty good considering that I have sandy soil.

All good resolutions-you can do it~! I am going to resolve right here and now NOT to water my outdoor in ground plants unless they are less than one year old. All the rest are on their own-I sure hope they survive.
