We’ve been having a lot of fun here in container gardening land. In case you missed it, we’re having a grow along, a community container garden. I’ve also added a message board so that we can all discuss our container gardens and how they’re doing. There’s still plenty of time for you to join in. And I really hope you will, it has already been a lot of fun.

That’s just the start…

Win These Seeds!

Life on the Balcony is getting awfully close to 5,000 comments. I have had such an awesome time chatting with you all for the past two and a half years that I wanted to do something fun to commemorate the 5,000th comment. So, whoever it is will win this tomato starter kit from Seeds of Change. All you have to do is leave a comment. On this post. Or any other. Easy peasy!

    Hi Fern!
Signed up for the message board today. I’m a novice gardener, so I’m looking forward to reading about everyone’s experiences with their community container gardens. Thanks for setting it up! Looking forward to getting started :)

I love Mike’s and Steve’s posts, too. I wish I’d been able to go to the Proven Winners event!

Newest follower here! I happened upon your little bloggity-blog when I was doing some quick Googling before heading out to our local nursery for some lavender. We just moved to Santa Monica and luckily have a (not so cute) patio. However it needs some serious help. Can’t think of anything better than some lovely plants to spruce the place up!

Good luck with your new balcony Tami!

I’ve never seen a kit like this. I did see some at Walmart similar that had Disney characters so I’m guessing they are NOT heirloom!

    Yeah…I’m thinking not. ;-)

Fern, have you grown heirloom tomatoes in a container? I would be interested in your favorite, I am hunting a few for my balcony.

I have. My favorite from last year was ‘Japanese Black Trifele.’

Here a suggestion if you have a little bit of yard space for nearly free container garden. A few of my friends have put these in and we are growing lots of food!

Congrats on your success! Loving this grow-along, too. I’ve already started my seeds, but might join in if I have the stamina to take on more.

I’m a bit of a late bloomer getting our patio garden started & it’s pretty small this year. But none-the-less, I’m so excited! And oh, how I would love to win these seeds for next years garden!
