Check out what I found while getting an oil change! I think this is a Tower Garden. I already loved this shop because they’re honest and charge a fair price for good work. Now I have a whole new reason to think they’re awesome.

I’m a huge fan of gardening at work. I’ve written about my work garden in the past (and even made a video about gardening at work). Do any of you grow veggies while on the clock?

What about gardening indoors? I work on the 7th floor in an office building, and have access to large window spaces. Would that work for anything?

Windows filter out some of the light that plants need, so even in a bright window, you’ll have the best results with plants that prefer or tolerate part shade. Here’s a list of vegetables and herbs to check out.

My brother in law grows hot peppers in the parking lot at his job. He even got some of his coworkers to water them while he’s out.

That’s really cool, Grace! Hot peppers are good work crops too, they’re less likely to be picked by thieves. And if they are, and the thief didn’t wear gloves…

Heh. That makes sense. Although I’ve never thought of it that way. I usually grow stuff like green tomatoes or white strawberries. Things that naturally look unripe when they actually are. No one seems to be plundering my garden.

I think I’d faint if I saw something like that at a mechanic. That’s incredible! Thinking about making some “tower” gardens for my balcony too :o )

Grow towers are wonderful! Here’s a link to a photo of my 2 year old helping out his nana and her tower. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=181460985357221&set=a.181400695363250.1073741825.174937366009583&type=1&theater

I love that you saw one at a car shop – that’s fantastic!

I started a ‘green corner’ at work several weeks ago. We have a fenced parking area under the building that gets more sun than my courtyard at home, so I decided to make the most of it..
We have the following plants in containers:
tomato, spinach, silver beet, sugar snap peas, carrots, radish, edamame, strawberry, brussels sprouts, cucumber, parsley, basil, kale, sunflower, marigold, mint, rocket, lettuce, peanuts

They’re all doing well, except for the occasional aphids and caterpillars which the staff help pick out or sometimes spray..
The green corner gives us a special spot to have a break and get some organic produce :)
