I don’t know about you guys, but I love flowers. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy growing edibles too, but I really, really, really love flowers. So much so that I am starting an online “chat” all about them. Sound interesting?
I’ll start off each week’s topic on Thursday night, at 6pm PST. We’ll have a focused conversation for about an hour. Then, for the rest of the week, I’ll share links to interesting articles that are relevant to that week’s topic, and I invite you to share the interesting things you find too. The first topic is flowers that attract wildlife to your garden. I’ve invited Dave, the owner of Bushnell Gardens in Granite Bay, CA to answer a few questions about attracting birds, bees, butterflies, etc.
Are you in?
All you need is a Twitter or Facebook account to participate. Dave will only be answering questions on Twitter, so if you really want to join that conversation, follow the #FlowerChat hashtag. I’ll be posting my questions for Dave from the @Flower_Chat twitter account, and Dave will be using their @BushnellGardens account. You may find that a website called TweetChat will make participating easier because it will show you all the #flowerchat tweets and automatically add the hashtag onto your tweets.
If Facebook is more your style, I’ve created a Flower Chat page. We’ll have the same topic over there. The benefit of Facebook is that the conversation will be threaded, so it will be easy to find the other comments on the same question.
No matter which social network you chose, I really look forward to talking flowers with you! See you this Thursday!

Very cool, Fern! I love the first topic, too – wildlife gardening is always a fave!
Twitter chats are pretty much replacing TV around here. I’m in, but not until October (have a Master Gardener gig Thursday nights until then)
See you in October Xan!
