As promised, below you’ll find a container recipe featuring black plants

This pot includes:
- ‘Edge of Night’ Calla Lily
- ‘Black Magic’ Bachelor’s Button
- ‘Blackie’ Sweet Potato Vine
I’ve never seen black Bachelor’s Buttons in a nursery, so you might consider growing them from seed. Botanical Interests has Black Magic seeds.
To round out the black theme, you’ve gotta use a black pot. If you can’t find one you like, try spray painting one black. A client I worked with last week had some plants in plastic pots that she wanted to keep, so I just spray painted the pots black so they’d look good with the new pots. The paint definitely upgraded the plastic and made them look much nicer than they really were.

OH MY GOSH Love it, love it!!!! I love your drawings of plants in pots, Fern. Gorgeous all the way around. I sure hope I get some Goth clients soon that I can use this idea on!!
Throw in some dusty miller and you got yourself a “black & white” combo which I’m aiming for on a jobsite. Thansk for the visuals, I needed some affirmation before I start planting tomorrow! I’ma bit nervous! It’s a big hotel.
Sounds like a neat project Rolande!
