Dude, we had a brief intro to IPM at LBCC Hort and I barely discovered what lady bug larvae looks like. I've been killing it all along. D'oh!

If anyone knows how to safely remove Ladybugs from a house, I would love to know.. We have been in our home for 7 years and they are here rear round, even in the winters. We used to think we could live with them, now we are a bit grossed out by them.. Ideas that aren't harmful to these creatures.:)

Hi Ms. Fern. It's been a while since I stopped in. I'm glad you're takin the MG classes. I became a MG in 2003 and I'm glad I did. You'll find it to be a very beneficial program, and probably have already.

The list of beneficials I've seen would be a long and varied one. And that's a good thing.

Deborah--Check out the University of California's Natural Enemies list. They have photos of beneficial insects in multiple different life stages, including eggs. Though it is often hard for me to be really sure about IDing eggs because so many of them look alike. Also, many beneficials lay their eggs in pests' egg clusters, or sometimes inside the pest eggs themselves. So if you're working on promoting beneficial insects, be very, very careful when you spray (and preferably don't spray at all).

Thank you, Fern! Assassin bug, huh? I have those, and glad to learn that something that creeps me out so much, is good. Would love to have similar info on identifying which tiny wee eggs are friends-- and which are future foes, to be crushed under my trowel.
